Kait Park’s curious spirit and passion for storytelling allowed her to make the connections between people, communities, and their stories throughout her life, driving her experiences in social and broadcast journalism. Moving beyond composition and production, her eye for engaging content and desire to understand why people engage and react awakened her passion for digital and social analytics.
Kait graduated from the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism & Mass Communication with a major in Public Relations, a minor in English, and a certificate from the flagship New Media Institute.
Her career began at South Carolina’s PBS affiliate SCETV as a content intern, where she worked on Our Nation’s Health with CNN’s John King. Her analytics expertise was used to inform strategy in SCETV’s brand revitalization, which led to Kait’s full-time position as the station’s first content specialist and digital analyst. She developed initiatives to illustrate the importance of analytics in the digital space and drive strategy across television, radio, and podcasts. These strategies and programs were selected for a special session at PBS Tech Con.
Looking to serve as an advocate for social media analysis and listening in journalism and communications, Kait became the founding manager of the University of South Carolina’s Social Media Insights Lab. She is a member of Columbia’s COR and serves as a temporary board member for Columbia’s AMA chapter. Kait can be found across the state of South Carolina attending concerts, hiking, or on the beach with her dog, Emmylou.
